Business/Energy Editors

CARLYSS, La.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 25, 2000--Global Industries Offshore, LLC, a subsidiary of Global Industries, Ltd., (Nasdaq:GLBL) successfully installed 7 miles of 14-inch diameter pipe for Unocal this summer to support natural gas production from the Muni development in Ship Shoal block 295 offshore Louisiana. Global used the pipelay/derrick barge "Iroquois" to lay the pipeline in water depths to 240 feet between the Ship Shoal 295 "A" platform and a subsea tie-in location at Eugene Island block 302. The platform is owned and operated by Spirit Energy 76, a unit of Unocal Corporation. Global also provided tie-in services, using saturation diving from the dive support vessel "Sea Lion," to connect the pipeline to an existing riser at the Ship Shoal 295 "A" platform and to install and connect a subsea valve assembly to the pipeline at the Eugene Island 302 location. All tie-in services for the project -- as well as testing and commissioning of the pipeline -- were completed by Global in August. Global Industries provides pipeline construction, platform installation and removal, and diving services to the oil and gas industry in the deepwater and shallow-water areas of the Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East/India, South America, and Mexico's Bay of Campeche. The company's shares are traded on the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol "GLBL."
