Intergraph Unveils SmartSketch LE for Modular 2D CAD
A la Carte Advantage Makes Precision Drafting, Drawing, Diagramming More Cost-Effective
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Sept. 29, 2000 - SmartSketch(r) 3.0 LE,
modular 2D
precision drafting, diagramming and drawing software, is now
available
for purchase on the Web, the Process & Building Solutions division
of
Intergraph Corporation
SmartSketch LE and six modules are offered online for purchase
and
immediate download from www.SmartSketch.com/store. Industry-
and
task-specific modules, integration with Microsoft(r) Office and
MathSoft MathCAD(r) and parametric drawing capability coupled
with Web
delivery make SmartSketch LE unique among cost-effective 2D
CAD
programs.
Modular flexibility, precision and specialized resources provide users
with the exact functionality required for specific tasks. "Smart"
tools and the inviting interface fulfill most 2D requirements of
anyone who needs to produce precise, finished drawings, diagrams or
technical illustrations.
SmartSketch LE ($99) provides core functionality for parametric,
dimension-driven design and includes intuitive drawing features
presented in a streamlined, uncomplicated user interface. The
SmartSketch LE core application is powerful as a stand-alone precision
2D CAD program for many design, drawing, business diagramming and
technical illustration tasks. Productivity features such as
SmartLabels, SmartConnectors and drag-and-drop SmartSymbols are
identical to those made popular by the full-featured Intergraph
SmartSketch 3.0, a recipient of 1999 Editor's Choice Awards from both
CADALYST and CADENCE magazines.
The six optional modules for SmartSketch LE consist of CAD Translators
($149); Electrical Diagramming ($99); Geometric Dimensioning and
Tolerancing (GD&T) and Weld Symbols ($49); ImageScape LT ($99);
Process Solutions ($249); and Web Publishing ($49).
SmartSketch LE and modules run on Microsoft Windows(r) 95, Windows 98,
Windows NT(r) and Windows 2000 operating systems.
For a limited time, registered users of SmartSketch LE or Imagination
Engineer(tm) LE can upgrade to the full version of SmartSketch 3.0 for
$295. SmartSketch 3.0 U. S. list price is $495.
Variety of Modules Solve Design Problems Cost-Effectively
Whether singly or in combination, the optional SmartSketch LE modules
provide cost-effective and task-specific solutions for a variety of
common design projects.
The CAD Translators module allows users to import and export or
reference MicroStation(r) (V4/5/SE) .DGN and AutoCAD(r) (R10-2000)
.DWG and .DXF files. File interoperability allows efficient use of
existing or legacy data in 2D workflows.
Including specialized templates, task-specific toolbars and 450
industry-standard symbols, the Electrical Diagramming module speeds
creation of electrical and electronic schematics. SmartSymbols,
SmartConnectors and intelligent line routing make the design of
circuits, power distribution diagrams and control loops faster and
more efficient.
The GD&T and Weld Symbols module provides both metric and Imperial
templates along with 144 standard symbols. Users can create their own
tolerance frames from standard components as well as create desired
weld symbology by drag-and-drop combinations of standard welding
symbols. Geometric dimensioning capabilities coupled with input fields
for tolerance values and drag-and-drop symbols make annotation of
precise mechanical drawings easy.
An integrated vector/raster environment that supports more than a
dozen standard raster file formats, the ImageScape LT module allows
users to draw on top of raster images or scanned drawings. The module
enables heads-up digitizing without ever leaving SmartSketch LE and
eliminates the expense of a complex, external raster editing program.
The Process Solutions module streamlines engineering and 2D design
tasks for process plants. With industry-specific templates, toolbars
and 2,800 symbols, engineers can create block diagrams, PFDs and P&IDs
and other single- or double-line schematics. Users can also create
precision ortho piping drawings and plot plans as well as generate
component reports.
With the Web Publishing module, users can hyperlink any SmartSketch LE
drawing object including vector graphics, text, raster images and
symbols, save the drawing as a Web page and publish it to the Net. The
module quickly makes drawings easily accessible for efficient Web
review or for technical illustration without a separate HTML authoring
tool.
