Intergraph Process & Building Solutions Supplies PDS Software to Aker Maritime ASA

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., December 20, 2000 - The Process & Building Solutions division of Intergraph Corporation announced that Intergraph Norge AS will supply Aker Maritime ASA of Norway with 100 copies of PDS(tm) (Plant Design System) software. Aker Maritime and subsidiaries plan to use PDS for engineering, design and fabrication of marine structures for new contracts in the offshore petroleum market as well as in maintenance, modification and operations services. The licenses for Intergraph PDS replace 100 copies of a competing product previously in use by Aker Maritime units.

Intergraph PDS is the world's leading software for the design of process manufacturing plants and related facilities including marine structures.

Intergraph PDS Provides Technical and Business Value

Petter Rune Larsen, technical manager, Aker Offshore Partner, Stavanger, Norway, said, "Intergraph PDS will play a key role in Aker Maritime's design and fabrication of the water injection platform for the Valhall field offshore Norway. The PDS solution is commercial-off-the-shelf software (COTS) and fits well with our rigorous requirements and work processes."

BP Amoco, operator of the Valhall field, signed a letter of intent with Aker Maritime in October for the jacket substructure, platform topsides, and drilling and injection modules for the facility, which is planned for start-up of water flood operations in 2003. The Aker Maritime contract with BP Amoco is valued at NOK 2.8 billion (US $309.9 million).

"The competitive upgrade validates the effectiveness and flexibility of Intergraph PDS for the design, engineering and fabrication of offshore production platforms and topsides including processing modules," said Gerhard Sallinger, vice president, European Business Unit, Intergraph Process & Building Solutions, Munich, Germany.

The Intergraph Process & Building Solutions competitive upgrade program enables customers to replace multiple copies of competitors' products with PDS at a discount.

Intergraph PDS Leads 3D Plant Design Market

Intergraph PDS is the acknowledged world leader in 3D process plant design and visualization. According to industry analyst and market research firm Daratech Inc. of Cambridge, Mass., Intergraph PDS in 1999 held a revenue share of 59 percent of the US $193 million 3D and visualization market.

For the petrochemicals, offshore and onshore oil and gas, chemicals and allied process industries as well as power generation industries, Intergraph PDS is the de facto global standard for 3D and 2D plant design. PDS integration features enable concurrent engineering, improved design coordination, fewer errors, lower rework and increased engineering productivity. PDS consists of integrated 2D and 3D software for process flow diagrams (PFD); piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID); piping (including routing, supports, modeling and underground); equipment, structural and HVAC modeling; electrical raceways; interference checking; and 3D visualization.
