Docupoint today announced the immediate availability of Whip-n-Post!™ for IIS, an automatic web publishing and full text search application for AutoCAD drawing data. Whip-n-Post! for IIS automatically reads an entire archive of native AutoCAD drawing files, creates an equivalent web enabled DWF "WHIP" file embedded in an searchable HTML page, and "posts" the file to Microsoft’s Internet Information Server for full text search on any word or number string inside the drawing file.
Whip-n-Post! for IIS provides a quick and easy method for organizations using Microsoft’s Internet Information Server to publish AutoCAD drawing files on their corporate intranet or the World Wide Web. Whip-n-Post! for IIS provides unparalleled ease-of-use by enabling text search capabilities to manage access to large drawing repositories. Full text search allows a user to locate the drawing file they need by a simple search on the text and number strings inside the drawing file. For instance, a search on the word "library" will find all the drawings that contain the word library anywhere in the drawing.
Whip-n-Post! for IIS automatically produces a unique searchable HTML file with an embedded DWF image which fully automates creation of the search index on Intenet Information Server. Any drawing files that are added or changed are automatically processed by Whip-n-Post! for IIS and re-posted to the web server. By publishing drawings in Autodesk’s web enable DWF file format organizations can take advantage of the low bandwidth requirements of DWF files (approximately 20% of the size of DWG files) and the availability of the FREE WHIP! ® plug-in viewer available from Autodesk.
