Web-Based Project Communication Software Helps Design Teams Achieve Faster Issue Resolution with New Web Conferencing and RealTime Review(tm)
Burlington, Mass. - May 17, 1999 - Framework Technologies Corporation has announced ActiveProject(tm) 5.0, the latest release of its award-winning Web-based project communication software for facilities, construction, and product development teams. New communications enhancements, such as live Web conferencing will enable global project teams to better meet schedules by staying more informed, resolving issues faster, and reducing travel and re-work. ActiveProject 5.0 will ship May 24, 1999.
ActiveProject is the only off-the-shelf software solution that allows project teams to easily design, publish and dynamically manage collaborative Project Web Sites without any knowledge of HTML or other web programming languages. ActiveProject Web Sites serve as a central access point to all project information for authorized team members. It provides secure, easy access to project information regardless of a user's technical ability, location, application, or platform. ActiveProject's integrated communication capabilities provide a mechanism for quickly resolving issues and driving accountability via online review and tracked communications. Project participants can use a standard Web browser to find, review, discuss, track and collaborate on project-related information in real-time. Using ActiveProject, any information - documents, CAD files, schedules, spreadsheets, photos, database queries, and other Web-enabled applications - can be drag-and-drop published and maintained as part of a dynamic Project Web Site.
Highlights of ActiveProject 5.0 Web Conferencing. ActiveProject 5.0 RealTime Review(tm) is the first application to tightly integrate Microsoft's [Nasdaq:MSFT] NetMeeting real-time collaboration technology. This new feature enables design teams to share applications live over the Web and hold real-time review and conference sessions. ActiveProject automatically connects the relevant team members, who then can use their Web browsers to concurrently share, comment on, and mark up CAD and other project information. At the end of the collaborative session, the project participant can archive the results to the Project Web Site with the click of a button. The RealTime Review feature is an add-on option to ActiveProject 5.0.
Project News Page Automatically Keeps Team Members Up To Date. A major new communication enhancement is the ability to easily publish a multi-source, project newspage. One or more authorized team members can drag-and-drop news items and images into a simple publishing template. The newspage can be contributed to, edited and published directly on the Web with a Web browser, without the need for a webmaster's assistance.
Tracked Communications Enhancements. Team members can now create customized tracked communications, including formal Requests For Information (RFIs), RFQs, RFPs, document submittals, ECOs, and ECNs. Project participants are given a convenient window into requests that they have made and requests made of them, while the project manager has a window into all open requests across the project. Now, project managers have an easy way to stay abreast of project developments and keep the project on schedule.
Enhanced Web Design and Publishing. ActiveProject 5.0 contains several new Web site templates which make it even easier for firms to create feature-rich project sites. With just a few mouse-clicks, companies can be online with Project Web Sites tailored for bid submission, site selection, construction management, product development, and a number of other specific business processes. ActiveProject 5.0 now supports the ability to update multiple files, including auto bundling of AutoCAD files with xrefs [Autodesk, Nasdaq:ADSK] and SolidWorks Assembly files from Solid Works Corporation, a Dassault Systemes S.A. company
