New partners offer process industries a uniquely powerful asset information management solution
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., August 26, 1999 - Intergraph Corporation (NASDAQ:INGR) today announced that it has signed an agreement with Tektonisk AS, Norway, in which both companies will offer their combined solutions for life cycle information management to the global oil, gas and process industries. Under the terms of the agreement, Tektonisk will make its Common Equipment Catalogue (CEC) and its supporting tools available as an integral part of the Intergraph AIM (Asset and Information Management) solutions. The signed agreement also covers other related products and associated services from both Intergraph and Tektonisk for the process industries and their supply chain.
The new, integrated solutions enable quality assured data to live for the life of the plant, from conception to decommissioning. Capturing engineering information, managing changes, and making the latest information available 24 hours a day to plant operators, contractors and supply chain at all stages of the plant life cycle ensures a value enhancing information management environment geared to maximizing return on investment, meeting schedules, controlling costs and enabling information re-use in future projects.
Intergraph is a world leader in the provision of asset information management solutions to the process industries. Its market-leading NotiaT data warehouse provides one intelligent, accurate source of engineering information about a plant for use throughout its life cycle. Notia is the world's first commercially available data warehouse built on POSC/CAESAR standards.
As longevity and integrity of data is vital, a neutral, single-source data warehouse methodology, based on an internationally-accepted standard, ensures data is never trapped in a proprietary system. This is essential to eliminate duplication and ambiguity and ensure accurate and timely data is available to all personnel.
CEC Contains Vendor-verified Data Tektonisk's CEC is an extensive Internet-based database with particular focus on technical equipment frequently used in the oil and gas industry, such as pumps, valves and heat exchangers. It provides specifications and supporting documentation relating to products for the oil and gas industry. All the information, including detailed data sheets and documentation, is verified by the equipment manufacturers or vendors. CEC, which complies with NORSOK and POSC/CAESAR standards, contains data from more than 400 global manufacturers and in excess of 4000 models. Tektonisk has documented approximately 400,000 pieces of equipment/tags for customers.
A practical example for the new combined solutions is a company's need to source parts for the construction of an offshore platform. From the CEC, the equipment required can be uniquely identified and a key number assigned which will last the lifetime of the project. When the order is placed, all supporting data including specifications, classifications and documentation can be transferred directly from the CEC to an Intergraph Notia data warehouse, at which point the equipment tag number is assigned.
Key Opportunity To Optimize Performance Intergraph AIM Solutions Director Derek Middlemas comments: "The control and reduction of costs across all stages of the plant life cycle is a key element in any strategy for success. The effective management and integration of engineering information can help to improve decisions, reduce risk and cut costs. In the process industry's increasingly competitive global environment, companies must rely on improved performance to stay ahead - and we believe this combination of leading solutions will provide our customers with an unrivalled opportunity to optimize their performance."
Tektonisk Managing Director Dag Pettersen added: "Our focus on quality-assured technical information and availability through Internet technology adds a strong complementary value to Intergraph's Notia data warehouse. We are proud and excited about this alliance with the world's leading provider of AIM systems, and feel confident that it will help us both in penetrating the marketplace."
