Walnut Creek, CA, September 17, 1999 - Rebis, the market leader in plant design and management software, today has entered into a strategic partnership with ECT International, the market leader in electrical design software, to integrate the AutoPLANTr Process and Instrumentation Workgroups applications with the Promis·er electrical design software. Under this agreement, both companies will share sales and marketing opportunities as well as integrate their process, instrumentation and electrical design product lines. This integration will allow designers to seamlessly share data between the process, instrumentation and electrical design departments, reducing errors and increasing design efficiency.

Logical and schematic design were long ignored as critical design applications by plant design software vendors until Rebis first released the AutoPLANT suite of Process and Instrumentation applications. Since then many vendors have attempted to introduce offerings in these areas but have failed to provide a real solution for all aspects of the schematic design process. Until now, the solution involved a number of non-integrated standalone applications with many communication problems. With the planned integration with ECT, Rebis is the only plant design vendor providing a fully integrated solution for process, instrumentation and electrical design and documentation on an open, flexible, scaleable and cost effective platform. With Rebis' FEED strategy and supporting design applications, the logical and schematic design phases and costs of a project are dramatically reduced.

"The integration between the AutoPLANT Workgroups and Promis·e will provide designers and engineers with a flexible and open environment for all schematic and logical design deliverables for their plant design projects," says Jeff Hollings, President and CEO of Rebis, "while at the same time providing a truly integrated environment, ensuring easy communication between departments. The strategic partnership with ECT will complement our core schematic and logical design applications in Process P&ID and Instrumentation engineering, reducing expensive design errors and minimizing project design times."

According to Arthur Sawall, President and CEO of ECT, "By integrating ECT's products with those of Rebis, the customers of both companies will have access to all the pieces they need for comprehensive control system design. The overall design process and the sharing of data will become easier and everyone involved will benefit."
