Walnut Creek, CA, September 17, 1999 - Rebisr, the market leader in
plant design and management software, has licensed a revolutionary new
3D visualization technology from LightWork Design, a leading supplier
of 3D visualization and simulation software. AutoPLANTr Explorer/ID
from Rebis is based on LightWork Design's NavisWorksT core technology,
providing piping and plant design engineers with a powerful
visualization and collaboration tool for making design review of their
large 3D CAD plant models faster and more effective.
3D CAD has become an integral part of the design process for large projects. However, most projects soon hit a major problem: how to visualize all of the many different components, such as piping, equipment and structural, within one single 3D model? Until now, the solution to this problem has meant investing in expensive design review hardware and software, with its inherent need for trained, skilled people. AutoPLANT Explorer/ID V6.0 is an inexpensive tool for collaboratively communicating the visualization of large 3D models around the entire organization. "The new AutoPLANT Explorer/ID will fill the immediate need for many plant engineers and supervisors to be able to view and walk through very large 3D plant models at an affordable price," says Jeff Hollings, President and CEO of Rebis, "while in the meantime, ensuring easy communication across the entire organization and its clients. Costly design mistakes and delays are minimized ensuring the project to be completed on time and minimizing costly reworks." "Rebis is committed to both improving and streamlining the design review process for its customers. Rebis demonstrates this commitment by making NavisWorks visualization technology part of the Rebis product family - getting these powerful new capabilities into its customers' hands quickly and directly," says Gordon Oliver, President and CEO of LightWork Design. "The ability to easily communicate in 3D with AutoPLANT Explorer/ID will mean faster review cycles and better input from everyone involved." Viewing the 3D model using AutoPLANT Explorer/ID couldn't be easier. The user simply selects the frame rate desired, which remains constant throughout the viewing cycle. Explorer/ID allows for large areas to be covered without waiting for every view to be fully rendered before moving onwards. AutoPLANT Explorer/ID's interference detection capability automatically senses any 'soft' or 'hard' clashes, and produces a list of these items for review. AutoPLANT Explorer/ID can currently read .dwg, .3ds, and .dxf files. The append facility allows these file formats to be imported into AutoPLANT Explorer/ID and together be viewed as one complete model, allowing several companies to work together. The application can run on any standard desktop PC, allowing skilled CAD users to produce the main files for viewing and enabling all other users, who do not need to be trained in CAD, to view, walk through and comment on the plant model. AutoPLANT Explorer/ID V6.0 is scheduled to be released in the fourth quarter of 1999. About LightWork Design LightWork Design is a leading supplier of 3D visualization and simulation software.
